Aliens: Colonial Marines

As an Environment Artist on Aliens: Colonial Marines my job was to help be as faithful to the movie while supporting the spaces needed for the game. My job entailed creating rooms,

One of the main focus for me was the iconic Mess Area. The space was put as much love and care with respect to the original while supporting the games story. I spent time analyzing how many food dispensers, where each locker went to whom and getting the general size of everything to the movie as possible. Because the movie only showed portions of the room at a time, I had to make decisions on how the space and arrangement could possibly work while supporting the needed maneuvering space for players to move around and navigate to the next room. Most of my modeling work for the project went towards adjusting room assets but within the time that I had, I was able to create a few assets.

The time that I had working on this project was quite fun. It’s not everyday you get to work with an iconic movie ip, filled with aliens, sci fi and moody atmosphere.

To support the events after Aliens, the cryopods you see in the below images had to support the ability to have an ejection system. I was tasked to create a cryopod asset that has already been ejected. This required researching what was visible in the movie and making up the rest of the detail utilizing as much of the existing model and adding another texture.
